Practice Areas

  • Contracts and Transactions

With over 15 years of experience, we draft, review, and negotiate contracts and complex transactions. Our goal is to make legal language clear and understandable, ensuring you know exactly what you’re committing to and the associated risks. We understand the historical and cultural contexts of colonial transactions with Native tribes, especially the challenges with written agreements, and navigate these complexities thoughtfully. Our commitment is to negotiate fair and balanced terms that honor and value your contributions.

  • Construction Law

We offer extensive experience in both private and public construction projects, covering every phase from planning and design to construction and closeout. Specializing in alternative contracting methods like Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) and Design-Build, we assist with negotiating rates, obtaining insurance, drafting agreements, and managing risks. Our focus is on ensuring that your contracts reflect your project goals and business needs, while addressing equitable contracting and workforce diversity.

  • Small Business Supports

We value the vital role of small businesses in our community and understand the unique challenges faced by business owners of color as a result of colonization and oppression. Our mission is to uplift and empower these businesses with expertise and determination. We offer support in “opportunity contractor/mini-prime/partnership” agreements, claims assessment, payment disputes, jobsite culture support, contract negotiations, employment issues, dispute resolution, pre-litigation handling, mediation, and litigation.

  • Public Contracting, Private Projects, and Procurement

We have extensive experience with public contracting and private projects across the region. For owners, we focus on maximizing inclusion, preparing RFPs, drafting contracts, assessing criteria, and advising during design and construction. For contractors, we create opportunities to partner with and utilize diverse businesses, prepare proposals, negotiate terms, and support throughout construction and warranty. For subcontractors, we assist with relationship building, opportunity access, contract negotiation, compliance, and advocacy.

  • Advocacy and Policy

We specialize in advocacy grounded in Indigenous knowledge and culture, focusing on validating lived experiences and centering marginalized voices. Our approach includes cross-cultural communication, community impact, creativity, and empowerment. We offer diverse advocacy services—written or oral, in-person or virtual, private or public—backed by decades of strategic communication experience. We can represent you in meetings, phone calls, Zoom sessions, or public forums.

  • Equitable Contracting and Workforce Diversity

We have significant experience in crafting policies and advising on implementation of legally supportable ways to ensure that public and private projects are inclusive and supportive of businesses owned by people of color and employ a diverse workforce. Understanding the issues, collaborating on creative solutions, and aligning actions with values can empower and inspire owners, businesses, and people to be courageous and walk with purpose.
